Although this might be a bit of a surprise, I honestly didn’t like fruit until a few years ago.
Growing up, I found the texture of fruit to be odd and eating healthy always felt like a chore. Additionally, I always felt like we hear this term, “eat healthy.” It seems like we hear this term so often that we aren’t exactly sure what it means anymore. It’s also so vague that it could encompass a lot of things. In this blog series, I’m going to try and break down what “eating healthy” means to me in an attempt to inspire others that taking minor action over long periods can cause grand results.
The first thing I did to help with my health was to cut out pretty much all drinks that aren’t water. This means gatorade, soda, any sort of flavoring powder, etc. It took me a while to realize that these drinks are one of the most unhealthy things you can ingest. Essentially, they’re high in sugar with little caloric value, so they act as a net-negative on the body. Additionally, these drinks are so accessible that almost every block in America has a store that sells them. There is no doubt about it that this is a difficult journey to eliminate these drinks from your diet, but I urge you to drink a glass of water every time you think of drinking soda, gatorade, or whatever your drink of preference is. I always recommend this to be the first step in living a healthy lifestyle because it’s easily recognizable and has a large impact down the line, so please, drink water.
